Seltmann Weiden – Theresia Red – Teacup and Saucer
A Seltmann Weiden Theresia Teacup and Saucer
About Seltmann Weiden – Theresia Red – Teacup and Saucer
Seltmann was founded in 1901, it grew to be one of the major producers of porcelain in post war West-Germany.
The Theresia shape is one of Seltmann’s most well known. It is a classic baroque inspired shape executed in crisp white porcelain.
Many varieties of the Theresia shape exist. The pattern ususally called Theresia Red has a classic Chinese inspired decor of vases and flowers in red on white porcelain. The edges are gilded. A blue version of this pattern exists as well.
The decoration on Theresia Red is prone to wearing from plates being stacked. We always mention this wear.
Due to the gilding frequent dishwashing Theresia Red is not advised.
