About Petrus Regout – Amsterdam (pastel yellow) – Serving Platter
Petrus Regout was the founder of the Sphinx ceramics factory in Maastricht.
In the 1950s and 60s pastel coloured earthenware was very popular. The factory produced earthenware in subdued and fresh tones on a massive scale.
The Amsterdam shape was designed by Pierre Daems, a model maker and designer at the Regout Factory. This is unusual as most of Regout’s designs in those days were made by Edmund Bellefroid.
Amsterdam is made of earthenware. It was produced in many different colours.
