A set of Sèvres portrait plates.
The important set of 8 portrait plates was made by Sèvres in 1846. The set was decorated at Chateau des Tuileries.
The plates are hand painted with portrait of notable French ladies. The rims have been decorated with blue bands, gilding and hand painted roses.
The portraits are of:
– Mme Elisabeth
– Mme de Lamballe
– Mme Dubary
– Marie Antoinete
– Duchesse de Bera
– Mme Necker
– Mme Adelaide de France
– Vicomptesse Dumoulin
The plates measure 24.5cm in diameter and 3.5cm in height.
The plates have light to medium wear to the gilding. One plate (D’esse de Bera) has a hairline fracture on the rim (photographed).
